Starting a chapter is the greatest adventure that college has to offer. Are you ready?
As we continue to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our Community Programs for the upcoming fall academic semester. This includes our Live Events, Campaign Event Support, Elite Event Support, Fall Tabling Kits, and Online Chapter Engagements. You can find more information on this at our Fall Program Updates Blog.
Tespa chapters are officially-recognized student gaming clubs across the US and Canada. Together with Tespa, chapter leadership teams work year-round to host epic events, create career opportunites for students, and celebrate gaming as a force for good on their campus.
Organizations that do not meet these requirements will not be able to receive an Admissions Interview.
Must be officially registered by your college/university in the USA or Canada.
Must be inclusive and game agnostic.
Must have at least three student officers for:
Leadership
Events
Membership
Must have an active member engagement platform (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Discord, or similar)
Must have held at least one documented, in-person club event.
Each applicant must complete the following Application Steps before becoming an official Beta Chapter.
Spring Admissions Step | Time Range |
---|---|
Admissions Application | November - December |
Admissions Interview | 1-2 Weeks |
Post-Interview Feedback |

Charter Signing | 1-2 Weeks |
Chapter Class Onboarding | December - January |
If you complete the Admissions process, you'll start your journey as
a Beta chapter, with one year to complete your Beta chapter
requirements and move to Active status.
Once you're an Active
chapter, you'll have full access to all Tespa benefits, as long as you meet
the Active chapter requirements dictated in the charter.
How will becoming a Tespa chapter benefit my organization?
Tespa offers multiple support programs for our chapters, including a network crafted to connect you with leaders and resources in the collegiate esports industry, our membership program, and our Campaign program.
Do I need to be a Tespa chapter to compete in Tespa tournaments?
No, our tournaments are open to all students. If you're interested in signing up by yourself or with a team, head to Tespa Compete to get started.
What does it mean to have a "documented" in-person event?
When we look for event documentation, we primarily look for photos and past event announcements such as a Facebook event page. You will be asked to provide documentation of at least one club event in your application. If you do not have documentation, you may still submit an application, but may be asked to complete additional steps.
Definitely! While Tespa is a part of Blizzard Entertainment, our clubs are allowed to be game agnostic. We believe that there should be no limits to what games people can enjoy with each other.
We receive a lot of applications, and we thank you for your patience as review each one thoroughly! If you haven’t heard back from us, you can check the status of your application by posting in the #admissions_support channel of the Tespa Community Discord.
My application got rejected. When can I reapply?
We recommend you apply in the following semester after reviewing the feedback we gave you and improving on it. It’s great to see chapters filled with determination!
I have more questions...
And we want to hear them! You can contact the Tespa team on our Community Discord or Compete Discord with any additional questions you might have.
