College Students
Congratulations to the University of Utah on taking first place in the Varsity Division!

Welcome to the 2018 Spring Hearthstone Collegiate Championship!

School is back in session, and Hearthstone is back for the 2018-2019 school year with over $150,000 in Scholarship Prizing, t-shirts, and tablets! Your school can field as many teams of three that want to participate, and we encourage any coaches or coordinators to sign up for our team manager program. The top 8 teams will advance to the live finals in May! Registration is open now, so gather your friends, pull up a chair, and prepare your best decks.

Matches are scheduled to start on Monday, February 19th, with each varsity team playing 2 matches a week for 7 weeks on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6pm PST.

Varsity Registration:

Along with four regional divisions, We’ve excited to announce that Tespa is launching a varsity Hearthstone tournament division for 2018! Students enrolled in schools that have recognized varsity esports programs are invited to participate in a region specifically curated for their teams.

Our current requirements to qualify for this league are that:

  • The university administration have sanctioned a varsity esports program.
  • Teams that recieve scholarships from their school solely due to their involvement in competitive esports are automatically eligible for varsity status.
  • School administration must designate a specific roster as the varsity team.
  • There may only be one varsity team per school.
  • Each team must have a designated point-of-contact in their administration’s faculty or staff that is directly involved in the esports program. We encourage them to sign up for our team manager program.
  • Varsity players must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and full time status at the school they are playing for.

Please email with your school name and administration contact with the title line "HS Varsity Division" so we can verify your varsity program and register your team for the Varsity Division.

Schools may decide if there are any additional requirements imposed upon their varsity team as well as how they are selected. These are our starting criteria and the requirements will be added in phases to give schools ample time to prepare. Our next set of minimum criteria will involve a minimum annual tuition provided in esports scholarships as well as higher student academic requirements. These requirements will be announced with a more detailed plan for our varsity program at a later date.

If you'd like to watch the tournament unfold, we will be broadcasting twice a week from the PlayHearthstone Twitch Channel! Broadcast will be 5pm PST to 9pm PST every Monday and Tuesday from February 19th to April 3rd.
